Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible game, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to each player. A round of betting follows where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. Another round of wagering happens. After all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is flipped on the turn. Another round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The gamblers will need to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where many entrants get flustered. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must utilize precisely three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It’s the same approach in almost every poker game.
A low hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand wins the whole pot.
It may seem difficult at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental subtleties of play with ease. Since you have individuals betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha hi/lo provides an exciting assortment of wagering options and owing to the fact that you have numerous players shooting for the high, as well as a few battling for the low. If you like a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
